Good News for Teens 14½–19

Wisconsin has passed Wisconsin Act 86, providing the Driver Education Grant Program to make it easier for eligible teens to obtain their driver's license without the financial burden. The grant covers 100% of driver's education tuition — paid directly to Arcade Drivers School on your behalf.

As Wisconsin's first state-licensed driving school, established in 1950, Arcade Drivers School is a fully authorized provider for the Wisconsin DOT Driver Education Grant. We have been helping Milwaukee-area families for over 75 years and are ready to guide your teen every step of the way.

For general licensing information, visit Wisconsin DMV Teen Driver Resources .

Who Is Eligible for the Grant?

Students between the ages of 14½ and 19 who satisfy the income eligibility criteria for a free or reduced-price lunch under the federal school lunch program (42 USC 1758(b)(1)) may qualify. You must meet all of the following requirements:

  • ✅  Age: Between 14½ and 19 years old
  • ✅  Residency: Must be a Wisconsin resident
  • ✅  Income: Qualifies for free or reduced-price lunch under the federal school lunch program
  • ✅  License history: Has never previously held a driver license
  • ✅  Timing: Must apply before enrolling in any driver education program
⚠ Important: Do not enroll in a driver education program before applying for the grant. Enrolling before applying makes you ineligible for funding.
