View Teen Programs and SchedulesWhat Is the Hybrid Classroom Option?
Our hybrid program is the most popular classroom choice for Wisconsin teen drivers because it combines structured in-person learning with the flexibility of online coursework.
10 Hours In-Person
The first portion of the hybrid course takes place in a traditional classroom setting with a certified Arcade instructor. Students participate in discussions, ask questions in real time, and build a foundation of Wisconsin traffic laws, road signs, and safe driving principles before they ever get behind the wheel.
20 Hours Online
After completing the in-person sessions, students finish the remaining 20 hours of state-required classroom instruction through our online platform at home, on their own schedule. Wisconsin State Law limits students to a maximum of 2 hours of online coursework per day. The full driver education curriculum is covered across both portions.
Onsite Permit Testing
One of the biggest advantages of the hybrid option is onsite permit testing. Hybrid students can take their Wisconsin knowledge and signs test right at their classroom location — no separate DMV appointment needed for the permit test. Upon passing, students proceed to the DMV to receive their temporary permit and can then begin scheduling their behind-the-wheel lessons.
Prefer to complete all 30 hours online? We also offer a fully online classroom option for students who live outside our classroom area or prefer a fully self-paced approach. Check our service areas page to confirm coverage in your community.
Why Choose the Hybrid Classroom?
The hybrid option gives Wisconsin teen drivers the structure of in-person instruction combined with the convenience of online learning — the best of both approaches.
Live Instructor Interaction
The first 10 hours of in-person instruction give students direct access to a certified Arcade instructor who can answer questions, clarify concepts, and help students understand Wisconsin traffic law in a real classroom environment. This foundation — including the Smith System 5 Keys to safer driving — makes the online portion faster and easier to complete.
Flexible Scheduling
After completing the in-person week, students finish the remaining 20 hours online at home on any device, any day of the week. This flexibility is ideal for students balancing school, sports, and activities. The online course must be completed within 90 days of enrollment. View our FAQ page for common questions about scheduling and enrollment.
Onsite Permit Testing
Hybrid students can take their Wisconsin permit test at the classroom location — eliminating an extra trip to the DMV. Upon passing, students visit the DMV to receive their temporary permit and can then begin scheduling their behind-the-wheel lessons. Our Parent Care Program helps families make the most of practice time between lessons.
State-Approved Curriculum
Both the in-person and online portions of the hybrid course use a state-approved Wisconsin curriculum built around defensive driving principles and the Smith System, ensuring every student is fully prepared for their permit test and beyond. Read more about our full driver education curriculum.
